2,000 job opportunities in electricity and energy sectors to be offered for Emiratis within 100 days

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has launched new qualitative Emiratisation accelerators aimed at providing Emiratis with 1,000 job opportunities in the electricity sector and 1,000 others in the energy sector within 100 days in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Industry.

This came during a meeting held recently in the Government Accelerators Headquarters in Dubai and attended by HE Suhail Bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, HE Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation. A number of officials from both ministries as well as representatives of several establishments and companies operating in the electricity and energy sectors also attended the meeting.

“The energy sector in the UAE is one of the significant and vital sectors that saw remarkable developments in recent decades. The UAE has played a pivotal role in the world’s energy map by being in the lead in terms of preparing and launching specialized strategies, initiatives and activities, which have been organized, sponsored and adopted locally and globally, and reaching advanced positions in global competitiveness reports”, said Al Mazrouei during meetings with specialized companies.

He affirmed that the Emiratisation file has a top priority for the UAE government and is being closely followed up by the wise leadership. He pointed out that the UAE is seeking to qualify a distinguished generation of Emirati human resources through forging international agreements and partnerships to adopt best practices and organizing dedicated training courses to improve their practical capabilities and enable them to fill and hold various leadership and specialized posts.

Al Mazrouei called on all concerned bodies and companies in the electricity and energy sectors to interact with the initiative launched by the MOHRE to be able to achieve the objectives of the qualitative Emiratisation acceleration challenge by intensifying efforts and collaborating together to employ Emiratis in value added professions in the target sectors, which are regarded as vital and strategic economic sectors and support the UAE's efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Meanwhile, HE Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli said: “The launch of the new accelerators in the electricity and energy sectors is intended to implement the Emiratisation methodology aimed at accelerating qualitative Emiratisation in targeted economic sectors, adding that this is part of the efforts to achieve the National Agenda's objectives to raise the Emiratisation rate in the private sector to 5 per cent by 2021 in line with the directives of the wise leadership”.

During the meeting, Al Hamli affirmed that the electricity and energy sectors were targeted in view of their importance as strategic and vital economic sectors characterized by their ability to create diverse jobs that meet the aspirations of job seekers in terms of incentives, privileges and job stability.

“Accelerating Emiratisation in the electricity and energy sectors will provide attractive employment opportunities for national human resources and support these sectors with highly qualified nationals capable of leading these fast growing sectors”, he added.

Al Hamli stressed the importance of partnership between both the government and private sectors for achieving the targets of qualitative Emiratisation in the electricity and energy sectors by providing and creating value added jobs.

He explained that while qualitative Emiratisation is being accelerated in the said sectors, the methodology of recruitment open days would be implemented as this methodology proved effective and efficient in attracting job seekers to attend direct job interviews with the companies participating in these days. Consequently,  this would enhance the opportunities of getting jobs, either through the job offers or employment contracts concluded directly between Emiratis and the concerned companies, he said.

The first recruitment open days for employment in the electricity and energy sectors are set to begin in September.

The meeting reviewed the Emiratisation services provided by the MOHRE including the Emiratisation Partners Club, which offers its members exclusive privileges in recognition of their contribution to the Emiratisation efforts.

The qualitative Emiratisation acceleration initiative has previously been implemented in such sectors as aviation, transportation, communications, technology, real estate development and service centers in addition to the financial and banking sectors and insurance, retail and tourism sectors. The qualitative Emiratisation has also been accelerated in Al Dhafra Region for those who have completed their national service, thanks to the collaboration between the MOHRE and its partners in both government and private sectors and free zones.
