Construction companies allowed to build labor accommodation in their construction sites
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has announced that construction companies will be allowed to build accommodations for their workers at their construction sites.
The step comes under the co-ordination between MOHRE and the relevant municipalities and local authorities with the aim of ensuring appropriate distancing between workers in labor sites and cities and hence reducing the risks of mixing among workers. It is also aimed at ensuring the continuity of construction and infrastructure projects, as workers are not allowed currently to move from one emirate to another due to the precautionary measures aimed at maintaining their safety.
The MOHRE stressed the necessity for the companies wishing to set up labor accommodation at their construction sites to abide by all regulations and standards established by the local authorities and to take all precautionary measures to ensure social distancing among the workers using these accommodations in a way that prevents them from being infected with the novel coronavirus.
The MOHRE stated that joint campaigns would be launched regularly to inspect the workers’ accommodations built in construction sites to ensure that they meet the occupational health and safety requirements and the necessary precautionary measures.
