Registration of 13,700 Emirati Students in “Wajehni” Smart Application for Training and Summer Work

About 13,709 Emirati students from the universities and secondary schools have registered in “Wajehni” smart application, launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation in 2018, in order to benefit from the internships and summer work opportunities offered by the Ministry, in cooperation with the private sector.

MOHRE announced the availability of 1,100 Emirati citizens who registered in "Wajehni” Smart Application for the internships and summer work opportunities provided by a number of private sector establishments and companies during the summer months of this year.

Fatima Al Houti, Acting Undersecretary of Human Resources Development at MOHRE, said that the "Wajehni” Program constitutes a part of the National Program for Field and Summer Training. This Program aims at educating and training the Emiratis youth through professional guidance in addition to empowering them to be employed in the private sector.

She explained that the available internships and summer work opportunities would enable the participating Emiratis to go through direct work experience as well as to identify the job requirements of the companies involved in the targeted economic sectors, based on their academic specializations and their job preferences.

“The available opportunities will be provided during this year, in cooperation with the concerned partners in the financial, banking, aviation, tourism, health and retail sectors.” Al Houti added.

She stressed that the "Wajehni” Program is implemented by the Ministry with the aim of linking students directly with field and summer training opportunities, which are available in the private sector. The Program also provides support to the academic institutions and counselors to ensure the students’ readiness to enter the labour market efficiently. In addition, “Wajehni’ offers support to the private sector companies through a platform that attracts the Emirati students towards the available internship opportunities.

The "Wajehni" Program is part of the MOHRE's strategy to empower the national human resources and enhance their participation in the private sector. This Program is based on a smart application that manages the registration of the field and summer training opportunities in the private sector, the research mechanism and the creation of training opportunities by the students.

Al Houti mentioned that "Wajehni" Smart App provides a qualitative link among the students, educational institutions, and private companies, in order to help students to find the internships and summer work opportunities that are appropriate and adequate for all Emirati citizens.

According to the mechanism of "Wajehni" Smart App, which is available on both “Apple Store” and “Google’s Play Store”, the private sector institutions will add the available field and summer training opportunities, then the students will register for these opportunities; based on their academic specializations & job preferences. Therefore, the educational institutions will follow-up the students to know the number of the students enrolled in field and summer training and the hours of training achieved by them.

The private sector establishments registered in MOHRE and the Free Zones can benefit from the “Wajehni” Program to attract a larger segment of students to apply for the available opportunities through four steps.

The first step is to identify the person authorized to coordinate with the Ministry, register opportunities, download the application on the smartphone, and then register the authorized person's data. The second step involves entry to the application and registration of the company by including its data from the list of settings (large enterprises can register more than one company and include more than one person for follow up).

The third step is done through the main template. The user can list the opportunities by following the steps presented in the application (the company can view the opportunity criteria according to the conditions, requirements and policies of the company). The fourth step involves reviewing the data of applying students and communicating directly with them. In order to support the efforts of the companies during the interviews, the Ministry will hold a number of open days in the Emiratisation centers to facilitate communication and select the students by the companies.

The mechanisms and steps to register schools and universities in the program, which provides the possibility of registering for the educational institutions, so that their students can join the training opportunities and summer jobs available in the private sector through three steps. These include the identification of the authorized professional counselor, in coordination with the Ministry and registering the institution, and then downloading the application on the smartphone followed by the registration of the data of the authorized professional counselor.

The second step allows educational institutions, in the case of more than one branch, to access the application and register the school or university by listing the institution's data from the list of settings. The third step is through the main work panel and the professional counselor can see the students enrolled from their institution, follow-up the students and motivate them to join the opportunities available.

The Emirati students of the schools and universities, who are eligible, can benefit from the available training opportunities & summer jobs and apply directly through the smart application according to the following steps; which include downloading the application on the smartphone, registration of personal data and then access to available opportunities, apply to them, follow up opportunities and conduct interviews.
