Suspension of Tad-beer Centers’ Service for Domestic Workers for Flexible Hours or Days

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced new controls for Tadbeer service centers dealing with the “daily flexible package” as the service of providing domestic workers by the hour or day has been suspended in the centers. This category of workers is only provided for a period exceeding seven days for one family only and without replacing them during the contract period or transfer them to other families.

This announcement comes in coordination with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, as part of the UAE’s continued implementation of precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The new procedures for the flexible package stipulate that Tadbeer centers are required to conduct a COVID-19 test taken within at least 48 hours for domestic workers before providing them to the family or the employer .

MoHRE called on the centers to enable their domestic workers to receive COVID-19 vaccine.

Tadbeer service centers offer other packages for employers, citizen and resident families in the country. Packages include recruiting a domestic worker from outside the country, where the customer pays the cost of recruitment for one time within standardized price ceilings that do not include fees related to issuing visas, residence, medical examination and others.

The packages include providing a domestic worker, registered at the Tad-beer service center during a contracting period of six months. After its expiration, the domestic worker is allowed to move as a resident worker with the employer or the family in case the concerned parties agree. According to unified cost ceilings, the customer pays a monthly salary within this package until the end of the six-month period, after which the customer pays the domestic worker’s wages that are agreed upon in the work contract. The customer can ask for the transfer of the domestic worker to reside within a period of less than six months after three months of contracting with Tadbeer center with the consent of both parties.

Packages include service for providing a domestic worker registered at TAD-BEER Service Centre for a 2-year contracting period. After such a period, a worker may not be transferred as a domestic worker for an employer or family according to unified cost ceilings.
