MOHRE launches Ghanayem card for domestic workers

During its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2019, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) launched a new innovative project with multiple advantages for employers and domestic workers called ‘Ghanayem’ card. The card is a smart electronic wallet of multiple features with a package of services including salary transfer for this category of workers and electronic shopping.

The launch of the Ghanayem card comes as part of the MOHRE’s efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the UAE in the global index for smart and integrated services and supports the MOHRE’s strategic plan aimed at developing its smart and digital system from the customer’s perspective, Khalil Khoury, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic Workers Affairs at MOHRE, said.

He explained that the card offers a unique model for providing exceptional service to customers and the authorities concerned by employing fast and efficient modern and innovative technologies, adding that the card enables them to access their needs easily while ensuring the reliability and confidentiality of the customer’s and ministry’s information.

The new bank card facilitates the salary transfer from the employer to the domestic worker through several channels including the Tadbeer smart app available in the Apple Store and Google’s Play Store and Tadbeer service centers as well as banks and money exchanges, he said.

The card enables the domestic worker to send money abroad for free or against a nominal amount, inquire about salary and financial transactions through his electronic wallet and withdraw money from all ATMs, he said, noting that the card also enables him to shop online, apply for accident insurance service and benefit from a package of discounts and offers on financial transactions.

Khoury explained that the card can be optionally obtained through the Tadbeer service centers when applying for a new residence visa for the domestic worker or renewing an expired one.
