Al-Awar, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Kerala discuss ways to develop labour cooperation

His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, received His Excellency Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Kerala, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, which was held at the Ministry's office in Dubai, they reviewed prospects for developing cooperation in the fields of work, in the presence of His Excellency B. Rajiv, Minister of Industries and Law of Kerala State, Sanjeh Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, Saif Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation for Human Resources Affairs, businessman Yousef Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lulu Group International, member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a number of stakeholders on both sides.

During the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar stressed that the UAE welcomes the Indian community, including investors and workers, to the labour market, reflecting the depth of historical relations between the two friendly countries.

His Excellency pointed out that the UAE is committed to facilitating business and creating an attractive environment for investment, expertise and labour from around the world by introducing a system of incentives and laws that simultaneously guarantee the interests and rights of workers and improve the stability of labour relations. This includes the introduction of the new Labour Law, which came into force on the second of February this year. He stated that this law is the biggest modernization of the labour market management system in the country, which is in line with the aspirations of the next fifty years. 

For his part, His Excellency Pinayari Vijayen reiterated the willingness to strengthen bilateral relations with the UAE, which play an important role at the regional and state levels in the development of partnerships between all parties involved in labour relations, in a manner that achieves mutual development benefits, pointing out that the UAE labour market is one of the most important safe destinations for Indian investors and workers.
