Al Hamli Heads UAE Delegation to the International Labour Conference and the Centenary of the International Labour Organization

His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, heads the UAE delegation to participate in the 108th session of the International Labour Conference convening until June 21 in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of government teams, employers and workers representing the member States of the International Labour Organization that celebrates its centenary during the conference.

His Excellency Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, heads the UAE delegation to participate in the 108th session of the International Labour Conference convening until June 21 in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of government teams, employers and workers representing the member States of the International Labour Organization that celebrates its centenary during the conference.

In a press statement made today; Friday, on the sidelines of the conference, His Excellency asserted that The UAE is keen on participating in the International Labor Conference to promote the pioneering global status of the country that welcomes the diverse cultures of the world. He also highlighted the achievements made in the labor market and its future directions, especially since the most significant resolutions of the International Labour Organization emanate from this conference.

His Excellency stated that The UAE is one of the most prominent actors in the international pathways, forums and conferences related to the areas of labour, leading recently to naming the UAE to chair the next session of the Global Forum on Migration and Development 2020.

The UAE delegation participating in the conference includes Saif Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary for Human Resources Affairs at MOHRE, Maher Hamad Al-Obaid, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs, Dr. Omar Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi, Assistant Undersecretary for Communications and International Cooperation, Khalifa Khamis Mattar Alkaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Labor Organization for the employers’ team, and Dr. Mohammed Butti Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Association for the Coordination of Professional Associations, in addition to a number of stakeholders in the Ministry, businessmen and representatives of the attorneys, jurists and teachers.

The UAE delegation participated in the expanded meeting of government delegations of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and the coordination meeting of the Arab Group held to coordinate Gulf and Arab positions on the topics to be discussed by the conference and its technical committees.

The Conference will discuss the report of the Director-General of the Organization, which addresses the world's labour markets and their significant impact on the technological development, in addition to the need for aligning the skills with future jobs and increasing investments in the human capacities, labour institutions, and decent and sustainable work through a program of action that is to be implemented by the three production parties, in cooperation with international stakeholders; including the International Labour Organization and the World Trade Organization.

The Conference will also discuss information and reports prepared by the organization’s committees on the application of the international labour conventions and recommendations, the ways to eradicate violence in the labour world, and other topics.
