MoHRE launches ‘Train the Trainer’ programme with Child Safety Department to upskill nannies at Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices

Friday, 12 December 2025

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has launched the ‘Train the Trainer’ programme to upskill nannies at Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices, under the supervision of accredited trainers and specialists from the Child Safety Department in Sharjah.

The first phase of the programme was implemented in Dubai, with a target to train around 300 trainers from all licensed Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices across the UAE, which number 135 in total.

The launch forms part of MoHRE’s ongoing efforts to regulate operations across these offices in the UAE, build up capacities and skills among trainers in these establishments, expand their knowledge, and familiarise them with the latest child protection standards.

The programme qualifies trainers to train nannies at these recruitment offices on key subjects and best practices related to childcare and safety, enabling them to carry out their day-to-day tasks on the job. It also serves to develop their competency, educate them about the UAE’s legal frameworks in this sector, and empower them to support national efforts to enhance child protection and welfare.

‘Train the Trainer’ reflects the UAE’s strong commitment to children’s wellbeing, highlighting the level of integration between federal and local entities to deliver pioneering services for children. It reinforces child protection and safety standards across all domains and locations, establishing a comprehensive model for child protection and care, in line with the UAE Government’s firm and consistent approach to child safety.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Child Safety Department on this programme forms a continuation of their existing partnership, which has resulted in the publication of the ‘Domestic Workers Guide’ and the implementation of a series of training workshops at Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices nationwide, where topics focused on enhancing child safety in vehicles, at home, and in public spaces, in addition to ensuring their digital safety.

Participants were also trained on skills to protect children from abuse and report cases of this kind to the child helpline at 800700, in addition to being familiarised with the laws and penalties set out in the Federal Law on Child Rights (Wadeema’s Law).
